NEW YORK (GaeaTimes.com)- Braylon Edwards of New York Jets will be active during the game against Miami Dolphins on Sunday, but will not be starting it owing to the recent DUI charges that have been brought against him. The wide receiver of New York Jets was arrested yesterday on drunken driving charges after the police pulled him over as his car had excessive tinting on its windows. The New York Police Department spokesman Paul Browne said that Braylon Edwards was arrested at around 5:15 pm after the police noticed a strong stench of alcohol in his car.

The police officials said that Braylon Edwards‘ blood alcohol level was .16, which is twice the legal limit of 0.08. Mike Tannenbaum, the General Manager of New York Jets released a statement yesterday which maintained that the whole team is very disappointed with Braylon Edwards‘ actions. The General Manager also said that the player has showed his “poor judgment” in-spite of being aware of The Player Protect program. On behalf of the team Mike Tannenbaum said that they are reviewing all the informations and will thereafter take necessary disciplinary measures.

Braylon Edwards‘ attorney Peter Frankel said that the player will not be available for comments. After his release, Braylon Edwards refused to comment anything to the media and said that he would “address” everybody later. Braylon Edwards was accused of punching a man outside a Cleveland nightclub back in October, 2009. New York Jets punter Steve Weatherford said that it was disappointing for the team as Braylon Edwards is a big part of the team. However, as his recent action falls under National Football League’s substance abuse policy he will perhaps miss the opportunity to start.
