LONDON - Seems that former England football star Paul Gascoigne is just not being able to overcome his drinking problem, as he had to be helped back to his hotel by a friend on Thursday.

Gascoigne’s friend struggling in vain to support the paralytic ex-England ace had to ask a stranger to help him.

An onlooker in Gateshead said: “Gazza was legless. He arrived back in his MG sports car driven by the friend. The pal could not get him inside on his own and had to get help from a joiner working at the hotel. It’s so sad to see.”

Barely 24 hours earlier Gascoigne had been rapped for laughing in court as North Yorkshire magistrates adjourned a drink-drive case against him, The Sun reports.

The chairman of the bench in Northallerton told him: “These are very serious matters, Mr Gascoigne.”

Gazza, who pleaded not guilty, is already facing jail for a separate drink-drive offence.

He is due to be sentenced in Newcastle next week after admitting exceeding four times the limit at the wheel of his car.

Gazza is living at the hotel because he has no house of his own. (ANI)
