MELBOURNE - Callum Ferguson is ready for more verbal onslaught from England pacers Jimmy Anderson and Stuart Broad during the England VS Australia A match in Hobart.
Anderson and Broad targeted Ferguson in a series of fiery verbal and short-pitched deliveries during the Ashes tour match at Adelaide Oval.
Ferguson said: “It’s always a bit of fun when there is a bit of banter. It always makes life interesting. It doesn’t happen every day of the week. A lot of the cricket has tamed down over the years from that point of view.”
“Everyone gets fired up, good competitive stuff, and what it does do is leave you well prepared for the next level, especially if they are coming hard at you,” said Ferguson, who was impressed by Anderson’s swing with the Kookaburra in Adelaide.
Ferguson was relieved to be included in Australia’s 17-man preliminary Ashes squad, FOX Sports reports.
“It is nice to get recognition for some performances but as we have witnessed the guys in the Australia team have been solid contributors,” said Ferguson, named in the squad ahead of left-hander Phil Hughes by national selectors. (ANI)
