Sydney, Nov.19 (ANI): Test contenders Nathan Hauritz and Doug Bollinger were left with red faces after Tasmania snuck home to grab a thrilling outright win in the Sheffield Shield game against NSW at the SCG on Friday.

Hauritz had one last shot at redemption, but couldn’t pull off an unlikely win for the Blues, grassing a chance to dismiss Tigers No.11 Adam Maher, while Bollinger coughed up the six that sealed Tasmania’s victory.

The dropped catch completed a horror match for the embattled off-spinner who scored a first-ball duck and six with the bat and bowled just one over (0-7). His three catches would have provided only meagre comfort, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.

In contrast Xavier Doherty, his main competition for the first Test spinner’s spot, scored an unbeaten 20 in Tasmania’s first innings batting 10 and sent down 25 miserly over for figures of 0-7 and 2-45.

Needing just 90 to win after resuming on day three at 3-73, Tasmania chased down the target to finish 9-167 with Luke Butterworth the hero for the visitors.

Butterworth smashed a six off Bollinger to finish with a run-a-ball 44 not out, the only batsman to pass 40 in the match, and snare the win for the Tigers. (ANI)
