ADELAIDE - Australian opening batsman Simon Katich is suffering from an Achilles tendon problem and is doubtful for the third Ashes Test to be played against England in Perth.
Katich had hobbled on and off the field for most of day three of the second Ashes Test.
“He’s been pretty hindered in the field. He has got a sore Achilles, it’s quite badly swollen so I had him on and off the ground a couple of times to get as much ice on it as possible,” Fox Sports quoted Australian captain Ricky Ponting, as saying.
The 35-year-old risked worsening the injury by batting on Monday, making 43 as Australia attempted to repel England’s victory charge at the Adelaide Oval.
The third Test will start from December 16. (ANI)
