LONDON - Newcastle United striker Andy Carroll has had charges dropped over claims that he attacked an ex-girlfriend.
Carroll was arrested and kept in cells after model Laurie Henderson claimed he assaulted her. But last night a spokesman for the Crown Prosecution Service said: “We have decided there is no longer a realistic prospect of conviction.”
Carroll (21), who made his England debut last month, had denied the attack in October.
Laurie (18) told cops she walked in on him having sex with a girl at her posh home near Newcastle, The Sun reports.
He was accused of grabbing Laurie’s hair and banging her head on a bathroom floor.
Carroll appeared at Hexham Magistrates’ Court in Northumberland charged with assault.
He was granted bail on condition he lived with club captain Kevin Nolan. (ANI)
