Ranji Trophy: Mumbai to face Rajasthan in quarters

MUMBAI - Defending champions Mumbai will face newly-promoted Rajasthan in the quarterfinals of the Ranji Trophy Super League to be played in Jaipur Dec 24-27.

Rajasthan were promoted after they took three points by virtue of their first innings lead in the drawn Plate semi-final against Maharashtra in Nashik.

The other Plate team to be promoted was Madhya Pradesh, who defeated Andhra Pradesh by nine wickets in the other semi-final in Indore. Madhya Pradesh will face Karnataka in Indore in another Super League quarterfinal.

In other quarterfinals, Haryana will face Tamil Nadu at Lahli, near Rohtak, while Railways will face Baroda at Vadodara.

Meanwhile, former England opener Tim Robinson will officiate in the quarter-final between Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh and also in one of the semi-finals. Shavir Tarapore will travel to England to officiate in two County matches in July-August. This is part of the umpire exchange programme between the two countries.

In another exchange programme with South africa, umpire S. Ravi will officiate in two domestic matches in South Africa, and an umpire from South Africa will officiate in a semi-final and the final of the Duleep Trophy.
