Australia ’slight favourites’ to reclaim Ashes urn: Mark Waugh

MELBOURNE - Former opener Mark Waugh has said Australia’s emphatic victory in the Perth Test has made them favourites to reclaim the Ashes.
The 267-run win for Ricky Ponting’s team in the third Ashes Test in Perth was made more remarkable by the fact that the home side went into the match as underdogs.
Speaking on foxsports.com.au’s The Last Word, Waugh said that Australia now deserved to feel like they were favourites to win the series, provided they don’t rest on their performance at the WACA Ground.
“I think Australia will be slight favourites. But there is still not much between these two teams. I think Melbourne and Sydney are going to be far more like a normal wicket that England will be much more suited to,” he said.
“So I think the next two Tests are going to be a lot closer than the one in Perth,” Waugh said.
Waugh pointed that there are still cracks in Australia’s batting that could prove costly in the race to reclaim the urn.
“I am bit worried about our batting at the moment. Three of our top six batsmen are out of form. To me that’s still a worry, so I don’t think we are over the line,” he said. (ANI)
