Jamia, Delhi advance in inter-varsity hockey

NEW DELHI - Jamia Millia Islamia and Delhi University (DU) won their knock-out matches in the North Zone Inter-University men’s hockey tournament here Wednesday.

Jamia thrashed Bundelkhand University 10-0 while DU defeated Lucknow University 5-1 in two of the seven knock-out matches played at the Jamia campus grounds. Devi Prasad of Jamia scored a hat-trick in the game.

In the other matches, Aligarh Muslim University blanked Kashmir 5-0 with Sushil Gupta of AMU scoring a hat-trick. HNB Garhwal University beat Kumaon University 2-0. Patiala University won 7-0 against CCSU, Meerut. RML Avadh University, Faizabad scored a 3-1 victory over HP University, Shimla.

Agra University got a walkover from GKV, Haridwar University.
