MELBOURNE - England’s bowling coach David Saker has rated James Anderson as the world’s best fast bowler following his successful campaign in the ongoing Ashes series.
Anderson has claimed a series-leading 17 wickets, with a Test to be played in Sydney from January 2.
Saker said that the 28-year-old’s only possible rival was South African Dale Steyn.
“He’s improved his game so much he’s either No.1 or No.2. Obviously, Dale Steyn is a class bowler, but I think Jimmy has learned to be a bit more defensive,” The Age quoted Saker, as saying.
“It’s neck-and-neck for those two as the best fast-bowlers in the world,” he added.
The bowling coach further said that despite not playing a great deal of Test cricket in Australia, Anderson has led the bowling attack brilliantly.
“What he’s taught the rest of the fast-bowling group is to be patient and bowl in good areas because you’ll get the results,” Saker said. (ANI)
