Ashes series-winning England comparable to world No. 1 India: Watson

SYDNEY - Australian all-rounder Shane Watson believes that the Ashes series-winning England team is on par with world No. 1 ranked India.
England wrapped up the five-match series 3-1 following their win in the fifth Test at the SCG by an innings and 83 runs.
The victory gave the visitors their first Test series win in Australia since the 1986-87 tour.
“They’ve been very good. There’s no doubt that India, on their conditions, have got an unbelievably well-balanced team, but the way the English have played here in all facets has been very impressive,” the Sydney Morning Herald quoted Watson, as saying. With the history of the Ashes, and how it’s panned out playing here in our home conditions, and us knowing our conditions so well, it has surprised me.”
“But the way they’ve played, how complete a team they are, and the way they’ve continually stood up - all of their players throughout this series - has been very impressive,” he added.
It was also the first time Australia had lost three Tests at home since 1988-89, when Viv Richards’ West Indies side had won by a 3-1 margin. (ANI)
