VADODARA - Bowlers put Rajashan in the drivers’ seat after reducing hosts Baroda to 324 for eight at the end of the third day’s play in the Ranji Trophy cricket final here Thursday.
Rajasthan, who came from the plate division, scored 394 in the first innings and are now eyeing their first ever Ranji title. Vivek Yadav (4-73) and Deepak Chahar (3-72) were the chief destroyers.
Sankalp Vohra (16) and Murtuja Vahora (21) were at the crease at the draw of stumps, sharing a 36-run ninth-wicket stand, with Baroda still lagging behind by 70 runs for the first innings lead.
Resuming at 73 for one, Baroda were quickly reduced to 136 for four before Aditya Waghmode (52) and skipper Pinal Shah (77) joined hands, rustling up a 90 run stand for the sixth wicket. But after their dismissal, no other batsman was able to stick around for long.
If Rajasthan succeeds in taking the first innings lead, it could well prove to be decisive with two days remaining.
