LONDON - Ace striker Carlos Tevez has said that Manchester City’s last two games had wrecked their season, as they have effectively blown their chances of winning the Premier League title.

A surprise defeat at Aston Villa and a draw at Birmingham have left City eight points behind leaders Manchester United, having played a game more.

“I’m not happy with the last scores. If we want to fight for the title it is impossible to fail in matches against Aston Villa and Birmingham,” The Sun quoted Tevez, as saying.

“To obtain only one point out of six is to concede too much advantage to rivals in the championship race. I have the experience in this aspect with Manchester United and these really are the type of matches where success is the key for the league,” he said.

“For us not to have triumphed gives others a big advantage. Consistency is the key to becoming champions and now this is our problem. There are still many points left but to give an eight, nine or 10 point advantage to United is to say goodbye to our chances.”

City faces West Brom at Eastlands today before travelling across the city to Old Trafford for their do-or-die showdown next weekend.

Tevez said: “From this weekend it is impossible to fail. We’ve left ourselves very little room for error and have reduced our hopes of the title.” (ANI)
