Fan makes smallest replica of World Cup

BHOPAL - A cricket fan, who is a goldsmith in Madhya Pradesh, has made the smallest replica of World Cup Cricket-2011 that is 60 times smaller than the original one and weighs only about half a gram.

The replica made by Nitin Soni with 23 carat gold is less than 1 cm in height and is made of silver and gold.

“I started making this World Cup replica when the trophy was brought to India. It took me three days to make it,” Soni told IANS.

Soni who lives in Sehore district, 30 km from here, said: “It will not be very costly, but I will be happy if it will be given to an Indian player as Man of the Series trophy.”

He also wants to get his replica registered in the Guinness Book of World Records.

The Cricket World Cup-2011 is scheduled Feb 19-April 2. Fourteen countries will take on each other in 49 matches spread in India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

This time, the World Cup trophy is of 11 kg in which three silver columns are holding a golden globe.
