Bears, Idonije agree on 2-year extension

LAKE FOREST, Ill. — Defensive tackle Israel Idonije has agreed to a two-year contract extension that keeps him with the Chicago Bears through 2011.

Idonije started three games and appeared in all 16 last season, posting career highs with 28 tackles and 3½ sacks. A former undrafted free agent, Idonije has appeared in 71 games over the past five seasons, registering 99 tackles and 5½ sacks.

The team announced the contract extension Friday.

The Bears also agreed to contracts with seven of their nine draft picks: cornerback D.J. Moore, wide receivers Johnny Knox and Derek Kinder, linebacker Marcus Freeman, safety Al Afalava, tight end Lance Louis and defensive end Henry Melton.

Still unsigned are defensive tackle Jarron Gilbert and wide receiver Juaquin Iglesias.
