Ravens, WR Drew Bennett agree to 1-year deal
OWINGS MILLS, Md. — Wide receiver Drew Bennett has agreed to a one-year contract with the Baltimore Ravens, who are looking for help at the position in the wake of the retirement of Derrick Mason.
Bennett worked out with the Ravens on Friday and passed a physical before accepting the offer.
The 6-foot-5 Bennett played one game with St. Louis last year because of a foot injury. Over an eight-year career he has 307 catches for 4,412 yards.
Mason, the Ravens’ leading receiver last season, announced his retirement on July 13. Although Mason may decide to return, the addition of Bennett gives Baltimore much-needed depth.
Bennett’s most productive season was in 2004, when he had 80 catches for 1,247 yards and 11 touchdowns with Tennessee.
