Y.E. Yang upstages Tiger Woods at US PGA golf

HAZELTINE - South Korean Y.E. Yang produced one of the biggest surprises in golfing history as he upstaged world number one Tiger Woods on Sunday to win the 91st US PGA Championship at Hazeltine National.
The 37-year-old produced a nerveless final-round 70, 2-under-par, to finish on 8-under-par and win his first Major, three shots clear of world number one Woods, who could only manage a 75.
Woods had begun the final round with a two-stroke lead, having never lost a Major when holding the lead or a tie for the lead, but for once he was found wanting.
Two bogeys on the front nine dropped Woods back to 6-under-par and when Yang chipped in from the bunker at the short-par four 14th hole, he moved ahead by one stroke.
The Korean bogeyed the 17th hole but so did Woods and with the American off the green in two at the 18th, Yang birdied the final hole to clinch the biggest victory of his career.
Englishman Lee Westwood finished tied for third with young Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy on 3-under-par, while US Open champions Lucas Glover was a shot further back.
