Feds say NFL players not suspects in Ponzi scheme
OMAHA, Neb. — Federal prosecutors say there’s no evidence to indicate wrongdoing by three NFL players who partnered with a financial adviser accused of running Ponzi scheme.
An indictment charging Mary Wong of Omaha with stealing $3 million from eight victims was unsealed Monday.
Demorrio Williams of the Kansas City Chiefs and twins Josh Bullocks of the Chicago Bears and Daniel Bullocks of the Detroit Lions were partners with Wong in Williams & Bullocks LLC. All three played at the University of Nebraska.
Jan Sharp of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Omaha said Tuesday there’s no evidence to indicate the players acted improperly.
Sharp isn’t saying whether Wong’s partners were victims in the scheme. Court documents identify alleged victims only by one or two initials.
