S. Dakota shuts out William Penn 52-0
VERMILLION, S.D. — Noah Shepard threw four touchdown passes to lead South Dakota to a 52-0 rout of William Penn on Thursday night.
The victory was the 500th in program history.
Shepard completed 15 of 23 passes for 249 yards, and Isaac Newton rushed 10 times for a team-leading 89 yards for South Dakota (1-0).
Senior receiver Dan Skelly caught two touchdown passes to match the South Dakota school record with 18 in his career.
The Coyotes outgained the Statesmen 506 yards to 147. The Coyotes’ defense stopped William Penn from even running a play in South Dakota territory in the first half.
William Penn, an NAIA school, fell to 0-2.
