Southeast Missouri defeats Quincy 72-3
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. — Matt Scheible threw for two touchdowns and rushed for another to lead Southeast Missouri to a 72-3 victory over NAIA Quincy on Thursday night.
Scheible completed 11 of 18 passes for 222 yards for the Redhawks (1-0). Sam Donatucci passed for just 47 yards and threw two interceptions for Quincy (1-1).
Henry Harris led all rushers with 88 yards and three touchdowns and Walter Peoples had five receptions for 76 yards and a touchdown for the Redhawks. Renard Celestin and Trey Porter also rushed for TDs, and Chantae Ahamefule scored on a 32-yard touchdown pass.
Tyler Epstein returned an interception 24 yards for a touchdown, and Tylor Brock scored on a blocked punt.
Alex Beard kicked a 19-yard field goal for Quincy.
Southeast Missouri led 58-0 at halftime. The 72 points marked the most by the Redhawks since 1916.
