Late TD lifts McNeese St. over Henderson St. 27-24
LAKE CHARLES, La. — Derrick Fourroux scored on a 4-yard run with 1:24 left in the game to lift McNeese State to a 27-24 victory over Henderson State on Saturday night.
Fourroux’s score capped a 10-play, 52-yard drive and the Cowboys scored the final 21 points of the game to win their opener.
Henderson State (0-2) led 24-6 before the rally.
Todd Pendland had 19 carries for 152 yards and touchdown runs of 70 and 2 yards for McNeese State.
Fourroux was 15 of 24 for 184 yards, including a 2-yard touchdown pass to Wes Mangan.
Henderson State’s Kenard Springer rushed for 99 yards, scoring on a 6-yard run and an 11-yard pass from Nathan Hall. Stefon Ceaser added 90 yards on 16 carries for Henderson State.
The Reddies took a 24-6 lead on Springer’s 6-yard run with 6:19 remaining in the third quarter.
