Moore scores on 63-yard fake punt in fourth quarter to lift Nicholls State past Duquesne 14-7

Nicholls State tops Duquesne 14-7
THIBODAUX, La. — Earvin Moore took a direct snap in punt formation and ran 63 yards for the winning touchdown in Nicholls State’s 14-7 win over Duquesne on Saturday.
Moore’s touchdown with 8:25 left in the game, came one possession after Duquesne (1-1) tied the game on an 83-yard pass from Connor Dixon to Dave Williams. The catch was Williams’ first play since leaving in the first quarter with a shoulder injury.
The Colonels (1-1) rushed for 208 yards behind Jacob Witt’s 51 yards on nine carries and Trey Hopson had 39 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries.
Duquesne was led by Larry McCoy, who had 195 yards on 34 carries. Kevin Rombach was 7 of 19 for 63 yards and an interception for the Dukes.
Duquesne had eight penalties for 133 yards and Nicholls State committed 10 penalties for 100 yards.
