O’Neal scores 2 touchdowns in Coastal Carolina’s 24-17 win over Monmouth

Coastal Carolina beats Monmouth 24-17
CONWAY, S.C. — Eric O’Neal ran for two touchdowns to lead Coastal Carolina to a 24-17 win over Monmouth on Saturday night.
O’Neal had 64 yards rushing on 17 carries for the Chanticleers (1-1), who totaled 207 yards on the ground.
Coastal Carolina finished with 410 yards on offense, compared to 174 by the Hawks (0-2).
Monmouth’s David Sinisi scored on a 1-yard late in the first quarter, before Coastal Carolina answered with 17 straight points. Zach MacDowall connected with Chris Presley on a 50-yard touchdown, Justin Durham made a 24 yard field goal and O’Neal added a 3-yard rushing score.
Tommy Fraser rushed for 74 yards on 14 carries for the Chanticleers and David Duran had 82 yards on three catches. MacDowall was 14 of 19 for 203 yards.
Sinisi finished with 84 yards on 21 carries for the Hawks.
