Wofford defeats Charleston Southern 42-14
SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Mike Rucker rushed for 102 yards and two touchdowns to lead Wofford to a 42-14 victory over Charleston Southern on Saturday night.
Rucker scored on runs of 80 and 4 yards as Wofford (1-1) rolled up 469 yards of offense.
Mitch Allen added 93 yards rushing and a score on nine carries and Eric Breitenstein added 66 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries. Allen also threw for 68 yards, including a 23-yard touchdown pass to Devin Reed.
The Terriers led 21-0 before Charleston Southern scored on Antwan Ivey’s 2-yard run with 6:50 remaining in the second quarter. Wofford added another touchdown before halftime when Rucker scored on a 4-yard run with 31 seconds left.
The Buccaneers (0-2) cut the lead to 28-14 on a 10-yard pass from A.J. Toscano to Gerald Stevenson with 7:10 in the third quarter, but the Terriers padded the lead with 14 fourth-quarter points.
