Davidson defeats Campbell 24-7
DAVIDSON, N.C. — Michael Blanchard threw two touchdowns and Kenny Mantuo ran for another to lead Davidson to a 24-7 win against Campbell in the Pioneer Football League opener for both teams on Saturday night.
Blanchard, who was 9-for-17 passing with 83 yards and an interception, rushed for 91 yards on 17 carries for the Flyers (1-2, 1-0). Mantuo had 135 yards rushing on 20 carries.
After Blanchard’s 7-yard touchdown pass to Andrew Aldrich put Dayton ahead 7-0 to open the scoring in the third quarter, Carl Smith’s 3-yard run tied the score for the Camels (1-2, 0-1). That would be the only score for the Camels, who have dropped nine straight conference games, as Mantuo’s 10-yard run put Dayton ahead for good at 14-7.
Blanchard connected with Ben Sarver on a 12-yard score to open the fourth. Ben Behrendt’s 20-yard field goal gave Dayton its final margin.
