Illinois State routs Austin Peay, 38-7
NORMAL, Ill. — Cliffton Gordon ran for four touchdowns Saturday as Illinois State easily defeated Austin Peay 38-7 for its first victory of the season.
After Matt Brown connected with Tyrone Walker for an 8-yard touchdown in the first quarter, Gordon took over. He ran 17 times for 96 yards and scored TDs of 2, 8, 9 and 5 yards. Brown was 24 of 33 for for 205 yards for the Redbirds (1-2), who led 21-7 at halftime.
Illinois State finished with 367 total yards to 109 for the Governors (1-2).
Ryan White ran for a 24-yard touchdown in the second quarter for Austin Peay’s only score.
