Olawale leads Columbia past Fordham 40-28
BRONX, N.Y. — M.A. Olawale threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more, leading Columbia to a 40-28 win against Fordham on Saturday night.
Olawale was 13-for-23 passing with 167 yards and rushed 29 times for 50 yards for the Lions (1-0). Ray Rangel added 118 rushing yards and a touchdown on 26 carries.
The Columbia quarterback scored his fourth touchdown on a 34-yard pass to Andrew Kennedy to give Columbia a 34-21 lead to open the third quarter. John Skelton, who finished 25-for-47 passing with 383 yards with four TDs and three interceptions, brought Fordham (0-2) to within 34-28 with a 20-yard pass to Jason Caldwell.
Skelton would also factor in Columbia’s final points, throwing an interception to Jared Morine that he returned 36 yards for the final score.
Olawale rushed for a 3-yard score in the opening quarter and a 5-yarder in the second.
