Elon beats Georgia Southern 28-14
ELON, N.C. — Scott Riddle passed for 338 yards and a touchdown and Elon beat Georgia Southern 28-14 on Saturday.
Riddle set Southern Conference records with 705 career completions and 7,893 career passing yards for the Phoenix (3-1, 1-0 Southern Conference). Riddle ran 19 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter, then passed for a 3-yard touchdown to Taylor Berry in the second quarter.
Terrell Hudgins led the Phoenix with 12 catches for 138 yards.
The Eagles had only 153 yards total offense and were held to 31 yards rushing on 26 carries.
Georgia Southern (2-2, 1-1) tied the game 7-7 on an 85-yard fumble return for a touchdown by Darrell Pasco. Elon scored 19 straight points to lead 26-7. Adam Shreiner kicked field goals of 26 and 41 yards, and A.J. Harris scored on a 28-yard run.
Lee Chapple passed for 122 yards and a touchdown for the Eagles.
