Furman defeats Western Carolina 33-14
CULLOWHEE, N.C. — Jordan Sorrells threw for 225 yards and a touchdown and Matthew Cesari kicked four field goals to lead Furman in a 33-14 win over Western Carolina on Saturday night.
Sorrells was 22-for-35 passing and added 33 rushing yards for the Paladins (3-1, 1-0 Southern Conference). Cesari kicked field goals of 24, 34, 31 and 36 yards. Jerodis Williams rushed for 55 yards and a touchdown, while Tersoo Uhaa added 49 yards on the ground and a score.
Furman jumped out to a 20-0 lead in the first half on Uhaa’s 1-yard run, Williams’ 3-yard score and a pair of Cesari field goals. The Paladins extended their lead to 30-7 with Cesari’s third field goal and Sorrells’ 8-yard TD pass to Chris Truss. Cesari’s final kick sealed the win for Furman.
Dion Wilson led the Catamounts (0-4, 0-1) with 68 yards rushing and a touchdown.
