Northern Iowa coasts past Indiana State 62-7

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — Quarterback Pat Grace completed only seven of nine pass attempts, but those completions went for 157 yards and three touchdowns as Northern Iowa dominated Indiana State 62-7 Saturday.

Grace threaded a pair of 30-yard TD passes to Schuylar Oordt, and threw a 4-yard TD pass to Ryan Mahaffey.

The Panthers scored touchdowns on each of their six possessions in the first half as they coasted to a 42-0 halftime lead. Grace gave way to sophomore quarterbacks Zach Davis and Caleb Walter in the second half.

Northern Iowa running back Derrick Law racked up 78 yards on 12 carries for two scores in the first half. Matt Strathman carried the load in the second half with 133 yards on 16 carries, including a 49-yard touchdown run.

The Panthers improved to 4-1 on the season and 2-0 in the Missouri Valley Football Conference. The Sycamores fell to 0-6 and 0-3 to extended their losing streak to 32 games.
