Columbia crushes Princeton 38-0 in Ivy opener
PRINCETON, N.J. — M.A. Olawale threw for two touchdowns and ran for another, leading Columbia in a 38-0 blowout of Princeton on Saturday in the Ivy League opener for both teams.
Olawale was 14-for-27 with 201 yards for the Lions (2-1, 1-0), and rushed for 63 yards and a score on 15 carries.
Columbia led just 9-0 at halftime on Olawale’s 1-yard TD run and Gregory Guttas’ 26-yard field goal, but broke it open in the second half against Princeton (1-2, 0-1).
In the third quarter, Jared Morine intercepted Princeton’s Tommy Wornham and returned it 51 yards for a score. Olawale converted the ensuing 2-point try with a pass to Taylor Joseph, pushing Columbia’s lead to 17-0.
Olawale connected with Mike Stephens on a 50-yard score and Austin Knowlin on a 27-yarder, pushing the Lions to a 31-0 lead midway through the final frame.
