Vikings’ Griffin says he’s sorry for DWI charge

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — Minnesota Vikings cornerback Cedric Griffin is apologetic about a drunken driving charge.

Griffin was arrested Aug. 30 in Eden Prairie, the day before Minnesota played at Houston in a preseason game. Griffin pleaded guilty Wednesday to a fourth-degree DWI charge in Hennepin County court, paying a $300 fine and receiving two days of community service.

In the locker room Thursday, Griffin said he apologized earlier to his teammates.

“I’m sorry about what happened,” Griffin said. “I’m just trying to help my team win and continue to move forward from that incident.”

Coach Brad Childress said the situation has been handled “through the right channels.”

Griffin is in his fourth season with the Vikings, his third as a full-time starter.
