Bethune-Cookman beats Savannah State 34-24
SAVANNAH, Ga. — Fred McCaskill scored two touchdowns, including the first of three in the fourth quarter for Bethune-Cookman, in a 34-24 win over Savannah State on Saturday.
McCaskill scored on a 5-yard run with 12:58 left to give the Wildcats (2-4) a 20-17 lead.
After Kurvin Curry scored for Savannah State (1-5), Bethune-Cookman took a 27-24 lead on a 1-yard run by Jonathan Moment with 6:58 remaining.
The Wildcats then stopped a Tigers’ scoring opportunity when Ryan Davis stuffed Curry at the Wildcats’ 1-yard line on fourth-and-goal.
On the Tigers’ next possession, Curry was intercepted by Michael Williams, who returned it 52 yards for a touchdown with 42 seconds left.
McCaskill finished with 109 yards and two TDs on five carries.
Curry was 11 of 23 for 174 yards with one touchdown.
