Yale tops Lehigh 7-0 in offensive struggle
BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Paul Rice’s 40-yard touchdown scamper on a fake punt in the third quarter was all Yale would need in a 7-0 win against Lehigh on Saturday.
The Bulldogs (3-2) are the first team to shut out Lehigh (1-5) in 23 years, and now hold a 15-5 record in the all-time series. The win avenged Yale’s 28-21 loss in overtime to Lehigh last season.
Brook Hart was 12-for-31 passing with 86 yards and three interceptions for Yale, and John Sheffield caught seven passes for 55 yards.
After replacing starting quarterback Chris Lum in the second half, J.B. Clark was 4-for-11 passing with 34 yards and an interception for Lehigh.
The Mountain Hawks (1-5) broke a four-game losing streak with a win last week against Georgetown, which Yale defeated to open the season. Yale has won two straight.
