Garelick’s fourth-quarter field goal lifts Texas State to 20-17 win over Northwestern State

Texas State defeats Northwestern State 20-17
NATCHITOCHES, La. — Justin Garelick kicked a 21-yard field goal with 1:55 remaining in the game as Texas State defeated Northwestern State 20-17 on Saturday night.
Garelick’s kick was his second in the fourth quarter as the Bobcats (4-3, 2-1 Southland Conference) rallied from a 17-14 deficit.
Northwestern State (0-7, 0-3) took a 17-14 lead on Paul Harris’ 28-yard run with 11:49 left in the game.
Harris, a freshman taking the place of injured starter John Hundley, ran for 118 yards and a touchdown and was 10 of 16 for 117 yards passing.
William Griffin led the Demons, who are off to their worst start since the 1974 team lost its first 10 games, with 121 yards and a score on 14 carries.
Alvin Canady led Texas State with 82 yards and a touchdown on nine carries. George Bradley was 23 of 31 for 291 yards and Da’Marcus Griggs caught 11 passes for 129 yards and a score.
