Gardner-Webb crushes Southern Virginia 65-0
BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. — Stan Doolittle threw three touchdown passes to spark Gardner-Webb’s 65-0 rout of Southern Virginia on Saturday.
Doolittle was 17-for-22 with 205 yards for the Runnin’ Bulldogs (4-2), who outgained the NAIA Knights (1-7) 633-91.
David Montgomery had 93 yards receiving with two touchdowns and added 123 rushing yards and a score for Gardner-Webb. Ryan Gates connected on field goals of 31, 30 and 26 yards.
Doolittle threw a 9-yard touchdown to Montgomery, a 20-yarder to James Perry III and a 5-yard score to Marquis Sanders to help the Bulldogs take a 34-0 halftime lead.
John Rock relieved Doolittle in the second half, throwing a 73-yard TD pass to Montgomery in the third quarter and rushing for a 52-yard TD for a 58-0 lead with 10:40 remaining. Rock finished with 93 yards passing and 53 yards rushing.
