UCLA QB Prince sidelined by illegal hit

PASADENA, Calif. — UCLA quarterback Kevin Prince has left the Bruins’ game against Washington after receiving a helmet-to-helmet hit from linebacker Donald Butler.

Butler delivered the blow while Prince scrambled downfield late in the second quarter of Saturday’s game. Prince remained on the turf for a few minutes before walking gingerly to the sideline.

Butler led the Huskies with 65 tackles entering the game. When both teams huddled while Prince was on the turf, UCLA linemen Mike Harris and Jeff Baca angrily screamed across the field at Butler.

Prince had a standout first half before the injury, going 13 of 17 for 212 yards while leading UCLA to two touchdowns.

His backup, Richard Brehaut, fumbled moments later.
