Cowboys’ Ware injured when head slams into lineman
ARLINGTON, Texas — Dallas Cowboys linebacker DeMarcus Ware has been immobilized on a stretcher and carted off the field after his head slammed into a San Diego lineman.
Ware was pursing quarterback Philip Rivers early in the fourth quarter Sunday when he collided into Brandyn Dombrowski. Ware’s head went straight into Dombrowski’s upper leg, then Ware remained on the ground.
Ware was tended to on the field by medical personnel, who stabilized the Pro Bowl linebacker before putting him on the stretcher. Teammates Marcus Spears and Terence Newman went over to Ware and spoke to the linebacker while he was being loaded onto a cart.
As he was being driven from the field, Ware gave a thumbs-up and waved both hands. He was also talking to people around him.
