Cerrato resigns as Redskins’ front office chief
ASHBURN, Va. — The head of the Washington Redskins’ front office has resigned.
The Redskins say Vinny Cerrato (ceh-RAHT-oh), who has been highly criticized for his player personnel moves, quit his post Thursday morning.
Cerrato has been the right-hand man to owner Dan Snyder for nearly all of Snyder’s 10 years as owner of the Redskins.
For the past two seasons, Cerrato has held the post of executive vice president of football operations. This year’s Redskins are 4-9 and have struggled in part because of a lack of depth along the offensive line.
Cerrato says he met with Snyder and that the two “agreed that the franchise needs someone different in this position.”
