Saints place defensive end Grant on IR
NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Saints have placed Charles Grant on injured reserve and will have to make their playoff run without their starting defensive end.
The Saints announced on Tuesday that Grant, who anchored the left side of the Saints line, has a triceps injury that will end the season for the eight-year veteran.
The 31-year-old Grant started every game this year and was credited with 53 tackles, 5 ½ sacks and a forced fumble.
In a related transaction, the Saints have re-signed veteran defensive end Paul Spicer.
New Orleans (13-3), who have lost three in a row, has a first-round bye in the playoffs.
