Stepanek outlasts Anderson in Memphis
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Third-seeded Radek Stepanek was taken to three sets before defeating South Africa’s Kevin Anderson 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 Monday.
The tournament’s 2003 champion, Taylor Dent, fell to Philipp Petzschner 1-6, 6-3, 6-4.
In the women’s draw, No. 3 seed Kaia Kanepi of Estonia, beat Arantxa Rus of the Netherlands 6-0, 6-4.
Top-seeded Maria Sharapova is set to play the featured match Monday night, facing Shenay Perry. On the men’s side, John Isner, the sixth-seed, will play qualifier Ryan Harrison after the Sharapova-Perry match.
The 24-year-old Isner, currently ranked a career-high 25th, won at Auckland earlier this season
