Super Saver is early favorite for Arkansas Derby

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. — Super Saver is the early 9-5 favorite for the $1 million Arkansas Derby.

The colt trained by Todd Pletcher and ridden by Calvin Borel drew the No. 1 post Wednesday for the 1 1-8-mile prep at Oaklawn Park.

Noble’s Promise had been the expected favorite, but instead was made the 2-1 second choice for Saturday’s race. He drew the No. 3 post in the field of nine.

Hall of Fame trainer D. Wayne Lukas has two starters. His stronger entry is 7-2 Dublin, who will break from the No. 2 post. He’ll also saddle 8-1 Northern Giant.
