GANDHINAGAR - After its unsuccessful bid to bag cricket Indian Premier League’s Pune franchise, Videocon is likely to either buy out an existing team or throw its hat in the ring for the next season, company’s chairman Venugopal Dhoot said Sunday.

“We are in manufacturing of TV sets and related businesses so it makes sound business sense to us,” Dhoot told reporters.

Dhoot said that Videocon is expected to explore the possibility of buying out an existing team after the current IPL season gets over April 25.

“We will surely be in reckoning for IPL-4,” he added.

He also denied that there was any sort of pressure from Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, who heads the state cricket association, or IPL commissioner Lalit Modi.

“I was bidding for the Pune team. There was no interaction with either of them,” he added.
