HOUSTON (GaeaTimes.com)- Chris Jakubauskas, the pitcher of the Pittsburgh Pirates had to be carted off the field after he was struck on the head during his team’s clash with the Houston Astros on Saturday. The incident took place during the first innings of the game after which the player was admitted to a nearby hospital where he was scheduled to be kept overnight so that doctors could observe his condition. However, the injury to the team’s pitcher was not the only debacle that the Pittsburgh Pirates had to witness as the team suffered a humiliating loss in the hands of the opponents.

Chris Jakubauskas crumbled on the ground when Lance Berkman drove a 1-0 pitch directly back in the mound with the ball hitting the Pittsburgh Pirates player just behind his ear. The 31 year old player held his head and fell in obvious pain as paramedics from both the team examined him and later he was moved away from the playing field in a medical cart. According to reports, Chris Jakubauskas was hospitalized at the Methodist Hospital where tests were held to get a clear idea about the state of his injury.

While talking about the condition of the Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher, the team’s manager John Russell revealed that the vital tests that have been conducted on the player has turned out to be negative. At the same time, it has also been stated that Chris Jakubauskas does not seem to have a concussion but his condition is being closely monitored. However, no reports have been available about when the player would be released from the hospital.
