FLORIDA (GaeaTimes.com)- Robin Roberts, who is known to have played a major role in leading the Philadelphia Phillies to achieve the National League pennant, breathed his last on Thursday morning in the presence of his family members. The Hall of Fame pitcher, who was 83 at the time of his death, is said to have died due to natural causes in his Temple Terrace, Florida home near Tampa. The Philadelphia Phillies announced the news of Robin Roberts‘ demise on Thursday ans it has been stated that the team would the much acclaimed pitcher’s demise by adorning No. 36, his jersey number, in their uniform for the rest of the season.
Many of Robin Roberts‘ team members from the Philadelphia Phillies remembered him as one of the most outstanding pitchers to have ever played for the team and the news of his death left all those who got the opportunity to know him from close quarters rather saddened. During his illustrious career, Robin Roberts registered 286 victories, 2,357 strikeouts, 45 shutouts as well as 3.41 earned run average. Throughout his 19 major league seasons, the renowned pitcher is showcased a spectacular fastball as well as amazing control and stamina which enabled him to emerge as one of the leading players of his times.
