Payton expects Shockey to practice at minicamp
METAIRIE, La. — Saints coach Sean Payton says he expects Jeremy Shockey to practice during the club’s three-day minicamp that starts Friday.
Shockey was hospitalized last week following a seizure that occurred while he was lifting weights at the Saints’ training headquarters. Hours after the seizure, the star tight end posted a message on his Twitter site that he was “OK.” Payton said on Thursday that Shockey should be ready to go this weekend.
Shockey had 48 catches for 569 yards and three touchdowns last season and his short TD catch in the Super Bowl put the Saints ahead for good in their victory over Indianapolis.
