After 60: Ghana and Australia tied 1-1

RUSTENBURG, South Africa — Ghana turned up the pressure on 10-man Australia after halftime of their World Cup match, the scores was still tied at 1-1 after 60 minutes.

Kwadwo Asamoah and Asamoah Gyan each tried their luck from long range early in the second half, with Gyan’s bringing a good block from Mark Schwarzer.

Australia’s Brett Holman scored after 11 minutes, but the Aussies’ fortunes turned when Harry Kewell was ejected for a hand ball at the goal mouth. Gyan converted his second penalty of the tournament, in the 25th minute, to make tie the score.
