San Francisco (GaeaTimes.com) At last the war is over between the Germans and the British. The spirited Germans and the blind linesman showed door to the British as Germany defeated England by 4-1 today at Soccer City stadium in the pre-quarter of world cup 2010. It was one of the most awaited and exciting matches of world cup till now and after a hard clash Germans had their last laugh. The match was not easy for the Germans as it seems from the scoreboard. Obviously the young Germans have outplayed the British on the field but somehow it was not England’s day. They were simply deprived of a certain goal by Frank Lampard while they were lagging by 2-1 to the Germans. Actually history today repeated in soccer city but it did so in reverse. The same incident took place 44 years ago when the Germans were deprived of a goal in similar fashion in the world cup final of 1966. England won that historic match 4-2 and that was their only title winning knock.

The match was on a high note from the start. Both of the teams were ready to make an impact on world football and get a position in the final eight. England started with their superstitious red shirt as manager Fabio Capello started with two forward - Defoe beside Wayne Rooney. But the Germans looked better coordinated in every corner of the field. As a result of it they took their first lead when Miroslav Klose scored his twelfth goal in world cup. The Bayern striker took advantage of a sleep of his majesty’s collective defense. A few minutes later, Lukas Podoloski doubled the score line from a beautiful pass of Thomas Muller by netting the ball in between the legs of English goalkeeper David James. After a safe 2-0 lead it looked like the rest of the match will be one-sided but the football god had something different in his mind. After a few minutes England’s Matthew Upson scored with a beautiful header from a well directed cross from the British captain, Steven Gerrard. No time to catch his breath and Lampard signing a draw with a beautiful shot from distance which hit the crossbar and bounced a yard over the goal line. Referee and linesman totally overlooked the fact and let the game continue. In the half time the score line remained 2-1 in favor of the Germans.

After halftime England started with a switch on mode and they tried to test the German defenders again and again. But Manuel Neuer, the German goalkeeper showed excellent efforts to disappoint the British fans again and again. England started to increase man on the attack to find an equalizer and the Germans took opportunity from it. They made two beautiful counter attacks by extraordinary coordination between Mesut Ozeil, Lukas Podoloski & Thomas Muller. Three of them devastated the English defense when Muller scored twice and Germany secured a win to lock their position in the last eight. It was not only a winning knock from the Germans, but it also came as a sweet revenge of 1966 World Cup final when they were deprived of the title. This time the history repeated in favor of them and Capello & his team took an exit route from World Cup 2010.
