LONDON - Germany’s striker Miroslav Klose, who is just a goal away from becoming the World Cup’s all-time leading goal scorer, believes that teammate Mesut Ozil will rule the world even if Germany fail to beat Spain in their semi-final encounter.

Ozil has emerged as one of the finds of the World Cup, helping to destroy England and Argentina.

Klose said he deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as players such as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

“I don’t like to compare players but people talk about the likes of Messi, Ronaldo, Kaka, being the best players in the world - and Ozil is as good as any of them,” The Daily Express quoted Klose, as saying.

“We are looking at the future world player of the year, that’s how good he is. He can do something special at any moment. I expect him to go on and win World Cups, league titles and European Championships,” he said.

Klose joined Gerd Muller on 14 World Cup goals and now stands just two strikes from replacing Brazilian Ronaldo as the tournament’s leading all-time goal scorer.

“If I score two goals it means that I have created history, it’s that simple, but that is not my main concern,” said Klose.

“It would be an honour to go down in World Cup history and also a great honour for a German to hold that title again after Gerd Muller held it. If I break the record but don’t win the World Cup, then I won’t care about breaking the record, my main focus is winning the World Cup for Germany,” he added. (ANI)
