NCAA won’t change icing rule
INDIANAPOLIS — The NCAA has decided against making icing a penalty at all times during college games, even for short-handed teams.
The ice hockey rules committee announced its decision Thursday after schools objected.
The committee had considered making icing a penalty even for teams defending the power play, saying it would have rewarded speed and skill and helped to create scoring chances. Schools instead recommended that the rule be mandatory for exhibition contests only.
